Our basement gets a ton of use. I make videos at my home office, and my son has set up a recording studio, so sound needs to be managed. Sounds from upstairs are coming in the basement, and the saxophone, drums, and keyboard can be heard throughout the house as well. I plan to use a combination of ROCKWOOL and Homasote plus a few sealants to create an environment where sound is better managed.

When converting from gas to electric for water heating, the main issue is the power needed from the panel. Rheem’s hybrid heat pump water heater needs a dedicated 30-amp circuit. That exceeded the load in some panels, so they came up with a different version that required less power. Mainly designed for warmer climates and not designed to be put in a garage.
