When converting from gas to electric for water heating, the main issue is the power needed from the panel. Rheem’s hybrid heat pump water heater needs a dedicated 30-amp circuit. That exceeded the load in some panels, so they came up with a different version that required less power. Mainly designed for warmer climates and not designed to be put in a garage.
The existing gas water heater in this house is going to be problematic as we tighten up the house. We chose to replace it with a Rheem Protera Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater.
